About Me

My name is Don and I live in Salem, Massachusetts with my wife Kate and a cat named Warren. In 2008, after participating in several triathlons, I decided to join Team In Training for an event called the Mooseman Triathlon. The training started in February and race took place in June. During that time I raised over $3,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I enjoyed it so much, I participated in the same event the following year and raised another $3,000. In 2010, Kate successfully trained and completed the Lake Placid Half-Marathon while raising funds for LLS.  Warren has yet to raise any money but he is very supportive of the cause.

This year I signed up for my third event with Team In Training: The 2011 Boston Marathon. It will be my first marathon so my goal is simple - finish. As for the fundraising, my goal is to raise a minimum of $4,000 by January 31, 2011.

So, what do beards have to do with any of this? Nothing, absolutely nothing. But as a gesture of my appreciation for your generous donations I will train from November through April without shaving and document the growth by posting a mug shot every week. Even though you can't watch me train and run the marathon, everyone can follow the beards' progress.  Enjoy!
